 About The Event

The event was on starting a OpenSource Super Weekend. This is a new kind of event format. Every weekend we will meet and learn new opensource technology. This is a good event format where we can collaborate with other open source communities and spread open source. It was a 3rd weekend.

Today’s topics was Private Browsing, Postgres SQL Intro + Hands on (As per we got the request from students), Firefox Hello (Setup + Demonstrations + Celebration)

Private Browsing Session :

First of all I do apologies that I was little late for this Sunday session but I would appreciate Mitesh Pokar for holding the Private Browsing session on behalf of me. This was Mitesh’s debut session and it was simply superb as per we got the response from the listeners.

My Session :

1) Postgres SQL Introduction & Hands on (As per we got the request from students) :

Inroduction :

PostgreSQL (pronounced “post-gress-Q-L”) is an open source relational database management system ( DBMS ) developed by a worldwide team of volunteers. PostgreSQL is not controlled by any corporation or other private entity and the source code is available free of charge.

PostgreSQL supports transaction s, subselects, trigger s, view s, foreign key referential integrity, and sophisticated locking. It runs on numerous platforms including Linux , most flavors of UNIX , Mac OS X , Solaris and Windows . It supports text, images, sounds, and video, and includes programming interfaces for C / C++ , Java , Perl , Python , Ruby, Tcl and Open Database Connectivity ( ODBC ).

Practical Demonstration :

Basically I have taught the basic fundamentals of PostgreSQL and how it can be implemented. We have performed the some of task like, how  to connect and create the database & performed the various queries like, insert, delete, update, etc on Linux platform.

Students are actively listening & watching the practical session.

Discussing and solving PostgresSQL slips from start to end.
Students are performing the tasks from their own.

2)Firefox Hello (Setup, Demonstrations, Celebration) :

Firefox Hello provides value to Firefox users by making it easier to communicate with your friends and family who might not have the same video chat service, software or platform. It’s free to make voice and video calls and there’s no need to download any software, plugins.

How we go : We just need to click the Hello icon, start a new conversation, and copy-paste the link to anyone whom we want to video chat with. No sign-ups required! Students are actually loved it after heard about this awesome features.

Firefox Hello remembers your conversations and keep those links alive until we delete them, so we can give each chat window a unique name for the people we call often. Also, it allows you to connect with anyone who has a WebRTC-enabled browser, such as Firefox, Chrome or Opera.

Spreading the awesome features of #FirefoxHello.

Any questions?

Students are asking some questions at the end of the session so we have discussed that and I have tried to give them a fulfill answer or solutions.
